6-months advisory programme
Clinical Quality Influence
From technical expert to trusted advisor
Being technically strong is not enough
You are experienced. You understand the regulations, the risks, the system. Your judgment is sound.
And yet you are not always heard.
You are bypassed in decisions. You are invited late to conversations that needed you earlier. You raise concerns clearly and watch them be absorbed, deferred, or simply ignored. You hold a position under pressure and feel it erode. It doesn’t mean that your position is wrong, but something in the dynamic with clinical teams is not working.
Or perhaps the opposite: you avoid the conversation altogether. You soften the message to preserve the relationship with the R&D function. You escalate only when you can no longer avoid it. And then you carry the emotional weight of what you were afraid to say.
Technical excellence gives you credibility. Clinical Quality Influence™ makes that credibility visible and effective.
Who this is for
Clinical Quality Influence™ is for senior Clinical QA professionals, Clinical QA leads, and new Clinical QA managers who are technically strong and want to become organisationally effective.
You may recognise yourself in some of these:
-
You are technically right more often than you are listened to
-
You over-explain to gain buy-in rather than stating your position clearly
-
You avoid conflict to preserve relationships, and then resent the outcome
-
You absorb emotional labour that does not belong to you
-
You struggle to hold a line when a clinical team or function pushes back
-
You want to be seen as a trusted advisor, not a GCP compliance enforcer
-
You are carrying more than your role requires… and you know it
This is where many Clinical QA professionals plateau. And it is what we are working on in this programme.
What this programme develops
Clinical Quality Influence™ does not teach communication frameworks or negotiation techniques. It develops the relational authority that allows you to operate effectively inside complex organisations, without losing yourself in the process.
-
Influence without over-explaining
The ability to state a clear GCP QA position, proportionately and without excessive justification, and let it stand. Authority grows in the space between stating your position and needing it to be accepted.
-
Navigating tension without escalation
The ability to hold the line in difficult conversations, with operations, with senior stakeholders, with clinical teams under pressure, without becoming aggressive or disappearing. Remaining calm is a professional capability.
-
Separation of tasks
The ability to identify what belongs to QA, what belongs to the business, and what belongs to leadership, and to let each party take their responsibility. When QA carries what is not theirs, authority becomes distorted and burnout becomes inevitable.
-
Inspection-level presence
The ability to show up in high-stakes situations (inspections, audits, difficult conversations with regulators, sponsors or service providers) with composure. Inspectors do not trust panic, over-control, or defensiveness. They trust consistency, clarity, and proportion.
-
Reading the organisational system
The ability to see patterns, understand clinical team dynamics, and intervene at the right level. Not every situation requires escalation. Many require earlier, calmer, more precise action.
The programme
Clinical Quality Influence™ is a six-month advisory journey. It is not weekly coaching. It is a structured container for real work, applied to real GCP compliance-related situations.
1:1 Advisory Sessions
One 90-minute session per month. You bring live GCP QA situations to me: upcoming conversations, inspection dynamics, escalations, recurring relational patterns. We work on them directly. The goal is sharper judgment and cleaner authority.
Decision and Influence Clinics
A monthly small group session (four to six participants). Each participant brings one real dilemma. The group works through it together, under my guidance. This is applied GCP QA philosophy. Participants learn as much from each other’s situations as their own.
Between-session advisory support
Access to me for sense-checking responses, preparing for a meeting, or grounding before a difficult interaction. This supports your judgment; it does not replace it.
The Clinical QA Lens™
All participants receive access to The Clinical QA Lens™: this is a companion reading series of six short units designed to be read between sessions. Each unit sharpens a specific lens for operating with authority in regulated systems: from helper to advisor, authority without aggression, separation of tasks, proportionality, inspection presence, and operating as a Clinical QA advisor.
The journey arc
Clinical Quality Influence™ is designed as a six-month progression, not a course with a fixed curriculum. The arc follows where participants are in their journey.
— Months 1–2: Stabilisation: reducing over-functioning, identifying where authority is leaking, slowing reactive patterns
— Months 3–4: Repositioning: practising new stance in real situations, testing boundaries, adjusting language and timing
— Months 5–6: Integration: authority becomes embodied, less effort produces more impact, clarity about how to operate going forward
By the end, participants do not just know how to hold a position. They have held positions repeatedly, in real situations, with real consequences.
What changes
Participants in Clinical Quality Influence™ will:
-
Stop waiting for permission to state a clear GCP QA view
-
Hold difficult conversations without the emotional hangover
-
Separate themselves from outcomes they do not own
-
Become the person their organisation listens to
-
Feel less exhausted (it doesn’t mean the work is easier, but they are carrying less of what was never theirs)
-
Start seeing the clinical organisation more clearly, and operating within it more strategically
Many participants find that as this work stabilises, they begin to feel the limits of individual influence. They see patterns across clinical trials that require change at a level beyond their role. That tension is the natural bridge into the Clinical Quality Stewardship™ track.
Format and investment
Clinical Quality Influence™ is a six-month engagement. It is available as an individual advisory journey for €2,700.
If you are uncertain if the format suits your situation, a short conversation will make it clear.
What this is not
Clinical Quality Influence™ is not motivational coaching. It does not promise confidence or assertiveness. It does not offer scripts or frameworks to apply in difficult conversations.
It works on real situations, with real stakes, over real time. The result is not a new communication style. It is a different relationship with your own authority.
This programme is for Clinical QA leads who are already good at the technical work and want their judgment to carry the weight it deserves.
When you are ready
If this describes where you are — technically sound, professionally capable, and not quite as heard as you should be — I would welcome a conversation, so we can determine if this is the right programme for you.
Clinical Quality Influence™ is the second level of the Clinical Quality Guardians pyramid. It builds on the internal foundation of Clinical QA Grounding™ and prepares the ground for organisational-level work in Clinical Quality Stewardship™.
But it also stands entirely on its own. If you are already grounded, this is where the next level of your professional impact begins.
